See below a collection of photos taken from the Sons of Ben section of Subaru during an MLS game between the Philadelphia Union and the New York Red Bulls. The two teams were supposed to meet in Philly on Wednesday to face off in the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals, but just minutes before kickoff a torrential downpour delayed the match, eventually postponing it to August. The mix of an already charged rivalry and the frustration over Wednesday made for an energetic affair. Philly got off to a hot start in the first half. An opportunistic Indiana Vassilev bundled home a corner kick and Bruno Damiani finished off a tidy team move to put the hosts ahead 2-0 within 25 minutes. The Red Bulls had moments where they looked threatening, but Philly thwarted any semblance of a threat for the rest of the game. The win keeps the Union atop the Eastern Conference and in the lead for the MLS Supporter’s Shield.
